Event Description

Tra emozioni, diritti e competenze: modelli educativi a confronto

About the Event

School bullying — particularly when rooted in homophobia or gender identity — is one of the leading causes of psychological distress among children, adolescents, and young adults. Its consequences range from anxiety and depression to social withdrawal, school dropout, and, in the most serious cases, self-harm. Yet schools and families too often lack the shared tools, language, and training needed to address it effectively.

On 3 March 2026, Eduxo is hosting the fourth edition of the artistic-cultural contest Art4Love, within the #Loveducation campaign. The topic of this edition is Chi ha paura dell’amore? Tra emozioni, diritti e competenze: modelli educativi a confronto, a multidisciplinary event at the European Parliament bringing together students, educators, experts, civil society representatives, and policymakers to foster an intergenerational dialogue on bullying, affective education, rights, and mental health, within the Loveducation campaign, promoted by Eduxo.

The event adopts a participatory, interdisciplinary, and holistic approach — in line with WHO recommendations on relationship education — centred on the lived school experience of students, and oriented towards the prevention of discrimination through an intersectional lens.

Panel Discussion #1 — The Importance of Affective Education Between School and Family The first panel will explore why affective and relationship education is essential, and how schools and families can work together to build a common language around it. The discussion will bring together an author specialising in children’s literature on the topic, a secondary school teacher, and a writer and television personality with extensive experience in education. The panel will be moderated by MEP Carolina Morace (The Left).

Panel Discussion #2 — Schools That Prepare for the World: Comparing Educational Models The second panel will put different educational models in dialogue, examining how schools across Europe can better equip young people to navigate questions of identity, difference, and inclusion. Speakers include a Member of the European Parliament and former school principal, an international school coordinator, and a Member of the Italian Parliament with a background in educational sciences. The panel will again be moderated by MEP Carolina Morace (The Left).

The Role of Art and the Art4Love Project A dedicated session will explore how art can serve as a powerful tool for affective education and social change, and present the story and vision behind the Art4Love project — part of Eduxo’s broader #Loveducation campaign, which promotes relationship and affective education in schools.

Art4Love Artistic and Cultural Contest — Award Ceremony The event will also feature the award ceremony of the Art4Love Contest, celebrating the creativity and courage of secondary school students from Italy and Belgium who responded to the call with their artistic works. The jury includes educators, artists, authors, and activists working at the intersection of education, art, and LGBTIQ+ rights.

Parallel Interactive Workshops The morning will close with three simultaneous workshops, each tailored to a different audience and facilitated by experts in education, art therapy, and advocacy:

  • Group A — React (lower secondary school students): focused on recognising emotions, understanding the dynamics of gender-based bullying, developing empathy, and building effective strategies for response and peer support.
  • Group B — Understand and Strengthen (upper secondary school students): a journey of awareness around the impact of homophobia, strengthening self-esteem and authentic self-expression through art, and fostering safe, open, and inclusive dialogue.
  • Group C — Educate (teachers, parents, and educators): an introduction to gender identity and sexual orientation-based bullying, and to Comprehensive Sexuality Education as proposed by the World Health Organization (WHO).

Each workshop group will then share its reflections with all participants in a final plenary session, leading to a synthesis of key takeaways and closing institutional remarks by MEP Carolina Morace (The Left).
